Decor styles and your venue
When considering how to style your venue for any wedding or event, a lot will depend on the type of setting and celebration your are holding. Whether you plan to style the venue yourself, buying and making your own centrepieces and props or contacting an event stylist like ourselves to assist with your vision. We have put together a guide to help make those all important decisions, creating a stunning room setting, for memories to last a lifetime.
First and foremost, you will need to decide on the most appropriate venue dependent on the event, the over all feel you want and your budget. Are you holding an intimate Baby shower or birthday party held at home, maybe you are celebrating a wedding, engagement requiring a larger space? That said, larger spaces also come with a larger price tag and are more suited to events big enough to fill them.

For small intimate events where you just want a small celebration with a few friends and family. Maybe a baby shower or birthday party, your own home can be the ideal setting and relatively inexpensive. As an informal event balloon garlands, backdrops along with catering and cakes are ideal.
There are a number of variations to backdrops available, from light up letters and numbers, our new balloon décor, flower walls to sequin curtains all of which can be used individually or combined whilst colour coordinated to your theme.
Marquees and Tipis
Marquees and Tipis are particularly versatile as far as use. Subject to weather conditions, both are a fantastic blank canvas, allowing you to be imaginative with your décor creations, not only that either can be placed anywhere with enough space. Due to the space Tips and Marquee's cover, the option of designated areas is wonderful way of accommodating a range of guests whilst still keeping to a theme and feel within your vision. Whilst both have their differences, especially with Tipis having a more rustic feel, creating three or four areas that complement one another works well for either option, As a suggestion, A bar or cocktail reception, the dining area and firepit and then a dancing area, even quieter areas for elderly guests or children.
Chase Tipis offer various packages for their Nordic Tipis with trestle benches, bar, festoon lighting and Chesterfield sofa with warm blankets, amongst lots of other rustic final touches. This allows you to create areas and enhance the path up to the entrance of your Tipi. Whether single double or even triple, each holding approximately 100 for a reception or 50 seated in a ceremony the options are endless with the final results being spectacular.
Nowadays, more and more marquee companies like Jacksons Marquees can offer ready built ‘mezzanine’ levels, allowing you to have two floors within the marquee. Adding interest in addition to being a good use of space if the site for the marquee is smaller than you need.
Reveals are popular, where the dining and dancing areas are hidden behind curtains and can be dropped or opened at the appropriate time to reveal the next stage of your wedding. An advantage of marquees is that with trusses and hanging points installed you have the option of lots of hanging decorations. This can be lighting, buntings, pom poms or unusual hanging displays.
Country House Venue
If you have chosen a country house such as Littywood Manor you will undoubtedly want to embrace the charm, enhancing it with your décor.
Many think of country houses as warm and rustic with pretty gardens. This is true, though are generally a more intimate setting. Indoors if the room allows, you may want to consider long dining tables, or ‘sprigs’ as they are known. This type of table layout makes the space feel like a banquet. Décor runs the length of the table and can have foliage with varying heights of lanterns and candles to add interest.
In summer you will hopefully be able to make use of the gardens and have your drinks reception outside, with some country houses having the space for a Marquee or Tipi. Occasional tables draped with with attractive tablecloths and Chiavari or cross backed chairs with or without our chiffon drapes can create a garden party feel to your event or wedding reception..
Modern Hotel Venue
The ’boutique’ hotel like Telford Hotel and Golf Resort in Shropshire or Wychwood Park hotel in Crewe provides a chic and stylish location for your event or wedding reception. In this instance we would expect the décor to be quite bold – large pattern wallpapers, interesting objet d’arts and statement furniture are most commonly found in these hotels. Our recommendation would be not to compete with these, but complement them with, big candelabra and stylish linen and glassware. Adding coloured linen such as our velvet table cloths along with the range of chair sashes and drapes. These blend with the setting, adding interest to the room whilst keeping the chic elegant feel.

An outdoor setting provides you with already beautiful scenery, especially for Celebrant led ceremonies, allowing you you can keep décor to a minimum. When styling your area, we recommend use of displays with movement. Varied hanging displays from, either from trees or purpose-built poles that move in the breeze enhancing an atmospheric setting. Rings of flowers with ribbons draped from them, along with place cards hung from trees, tulle wrapped boxwood trees tied with big floppy ribbons are all appropriate to the setting. Your arrangements need to be big or they will be lost in such a large setting. A central display of gorgeous chocolate berries for guests to pick from as they mingle is a delicious and pretty decoration.
Theme and colour scheme
Once you have a venue booked, the next step is to consider your theme and colour scheme. Again this will have many variants to take into account, the type of event you are holding, time of year, even your favourite colour.
Baby showers tend to be very much Blue, Pink or neutral colours along with a theme the parents have set for the babies nursery depending on whether the mother to be knows the gender of the baby, though other events have more flexibility. Though from experience I would certainly say birthdays generally follow the favourite colour and theme of the guest of honour. For these types of events we offer balloon garlands, helium balloon and character balloons along with various light up numbers and backdrops, chair drapes or covers and sashes even in the home if the set up allows and in a multitude of available colours to match any theme.
